While you do not need to reserve a moving truck in general, it is best to reserve one if you know of a company that offers great trucks, low prices, or any other detail that makes that company exceptional.

One final difference in moving truck rentals and pro movers is simply the level of service involved. A professional mover can come in different services, from full service moving to self-service moving. The prices will vary between the service levels, and is worth considering if you are willing to pay a little bit more. A moving truck rental usually has a flat rate for just the truck, but a moving truck can also come with a few tools and accessories that you may find handy, such as a dolly. The prices for these extra things are generally inexpensive as well, and they help out tremendously during a move.
